Broad Street Container Native Plantings

Place large container planters with native grasses, wildflowers, and small shrubs along the Broad Street sidewalks downtown, adding greenery and pollinator habitat to the city's main commercial corridor. The containers would use a curated palette of native plants that bloom in succession across seasons. Broad Street is Chattanooga's signature downtown street, but its sidewalks are mostly hardscape. Container plantings are a fast, flexible way to add green without tearing up pavement. Using native plants rather than ornamental annuals creates real ecological value — supporting pollinators and demonstrating that native landscapes can be beautiful in urban settings.
